Background: Mike Mastro was stationed in the South Pacific and was part of the Philippian Liberation for which he received a purple heart medal. While he was fighting in the South Pacific, he was wounded twice which earned him the purple heart medal. As a purple heart veteran, he participated in all of the Wellesley Memorial Day parades. He was interviewed by the Townsman newspaper for an article published in the June 1, 2000 edition. Member of the Wellesley VFW, the Wellesley American Legion, The Amvets of Natick, the Italo American Educational Club of Wellesley
