Jeff Peterson – Dedicated Service Award

Firefighters are a vital and forceful part of our Town. Very few are capable of meeting that charge.
Those who do this job are highly visible, and in many ways, they are the safe face of Wellesley.
One of the longest and best serving firemen is Jeffrey Peterson.
This year, The Wellesley Celebrations Committee, a standing committee of the Select Board, Town of Wellesley honors Jeffrey Peterson for Distinguished Service Award.
The Petersons moved to Wellesley in 1979 to raise their family. His wife Doreen, a life-long resident of the Town, knew the Town well. They have two children, Kelly and Jeff Jr., both of whom attended Wellesley Public Schools. Kelly is now a Special Educator at Wellesley High School and Jeff Jr. is a Global Sales Director at Mimecast.
Firefighting runs in the family. Jeff’s son-in-Law Matt Corda is a Wellesley Fire Department Deputy Chief and Daughter-in-Law Brenna works for the Red Sox.
Jeffrey was appointed to the Fire Department on January 2, 1985. Two years later he became a Lieutenant. He moved up to Deputy and was promoted to Assistant Chief in 1990.
Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in Biology and minor in Secondary education from Framingham State, and an associate degree in Fire Science from Quinsigamond Community College. Prior to joining the Fire Department, he was the Senior Biologist for Haemonetics Corporation in Braintree.
Jeff, thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for the long hours, and for accepting the long hours. Thank you to your family for their support.
You have made our town a better place.
