Co-Grand Marshal
Wellesley became a town in 1881. Somewhat earlier in 1789, this former colony became America. Today these two events become one as we celebrate Wellesley Wonderful Weekend – 2026.
Fittingly our theme: 250th Anniversary of the Birth of America.
As a tribute the Wellesley Celebrations Committee, a standing committee of the Select Board, Town of Wellesley, honors The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as its Grand Marshal.

The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (often abbreviated DAR), is a Federally chartered Lineage Based membership. The DAR is the largest women’s service organization for women who are directly descended from a Patriot of the American Revolution – a nonprofit, no political group promoting Historical Preservation, Education, and Patriotism.
Wellesley’s local chapter is the Amos Mills-Lucy Jackson Chapter, originally named after Wellesley’s’ Patriot Amos Mills. Amos Mills was killed April 19th, 1775, at the age of 43 in a violent skirmish with the British during the British retreat from Lexington. This battle took place at the home of Jason Russell at Menotomy (now Arlington). Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of America is a great cause. Thank you DAR for being so vital in our shared history.
