Community Service Award – Laura Robert

There is so much beauty here – everywhere around us. We need to preserve places like Wellesley, to appreciate and to protect them. It takes work and ingenuity and cooperation. We have inspiration and cooperation and champions like Laura Robert.

Today we formally thank her. The Wellesley Celebrations Committee, a standing committee of the Select Board, Town of Wellesley honors Laura Robert with its Community Service Award.

A 30-year resident of Wellesley, Laura Robert is deeply committed to our community and has long worked to improve and enhance the town’s extraordinary assets. Raising two children, Mike Robert, and Julia Fragasso, here in Wellesley has given her a profound appreciation for the parks and recreational facilities that we all enjoy.

Here are some highlights of her work: Two terms elected NRC, Trails Committee and Wetland Committee liaison.

Town Meeting Member. Committed to community, protecting, and enhancing extraordinary assets. Environmental advocate for preserving natural lands and watersheds.

Advocate for safe drinking water.

Booster for public engagement in visual arts, Director of Community Engagement, Art Wellesley.

Member, Art Committee, Wellesley Public Library.

Co-founded Art in the Park project with Wellesley Women Artisans to engage residents of all ages in an annual community art project during the Wellesley Wonderful Weekend celebration.

Since the days of our history, there has been a consensus that we have a common interest in protecting our natural lands and greenspaces. Laura Roberts speaks for that great goal.

Thank You, Laura Robert.
