Selfless leadership, courageous actions, and extraordinary devotion to duty, David R. Davis reflects great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Today he receives a new honor: Wellesley Celebrations Committee, a standing committee of the Select Board, Town of Wellesley honors Captain David R. Davis as its Co-Chief of Staff
Captain Davis enlisted in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman on 17 March 1971. He went to boot camp and Hospital Corps School in San Diego, CA. He subsequently served in various locations, attended advanced medical training, deployed on board the USS MARS (AFS-1) and with the United States Marine Corps, providing medical support during operations in Southeast Asia and the Persian Gulf. He was promoted to Chief Petty Officer while supporting the Marines and approximately one year later was commissioned an Ensign, Medical Service Corps (Healthcare Administrator) in June 1981.
As a commissioned Officer, Captain Davis served in Medical Clinics, Naval Hospitals, various combatant staffs, onboard the USS RANGER (CV-61) and with the Marines where he had command of the 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III MAF, Okinawa, Japan; from where his battalion deployed in support of combat operations in Iraq and the Philippines; and humanitarian operations in Pakistan and Indonesia.
Captain Davis retired in 2008 after his last tour as the Deputy Fleet Surgeon at Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk, Virginia. After retirement, he worked as a consultant for Deloitte supporting the Defense Health Agency in developing new models of expeditionary medical facilities for humanitarian and combat operations. Captain Davis and his wife Mary moved to Sun City in July 2018. They have four children and five grandchildren.
