Jay McHale

Community Service Award

A successful environmental policy requires leaders who can bridge differences. Jay McHale has been that leader.

Today we are proud to give him a new honor.   The Wellesley Celebrations Committee, a standing committee of the Select Board, Town of Wellesley honors Jay McHale with its Community Service Award.

Jay, with his wife Shelley and two boys, have lived in Wellesley since 2007.  He is a Town Meeting Member in Precinct C and served on the Natural Resources  Commission from 2020 to 2025, two of those years as Board Chair.

Prior to semi-retiring in 2017, Jay McHale was the former president of Computershare’s US Equity Services group, at the time the largest of Computershare’s business offerings in the United States.  As the premier transfer agent in the US, Computershare offers the most complete and most comprehensive end-to-end investor services (Shareholder Recordkeeping, Investment Plan Services, Equity Compensation, and M&A Processing).

Jay has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Computershare in 2007, Jay spent 25 years with Bank of Montreal/Harris Bank, where his roles included direct management of shareholder services and trust divisions of those companies.  He has presided over numerous complex business integration projects throughout his career, including significant acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations.

In addition to consulting in his spare time, Jay serves as Board Chair for Action for Healthy Kids, a national nonprofit that partners with schools, families, and communities to create healthier learning environments that support children’s physical, emotional, and nutritional well being.  He also served as director of the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago.  Jay holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Finance from DePaul University.

Thank you, Jay for your leadership, commitment and helping us achieve our environmental goals.
